Whether your historic building is constructed of stone, brick or terracotta, repair work will be necessary from time to time. Environmental damage and natural decay can cause problems if left untreated, leaving your building looking dilapidated and lacking its imposing presence. With our expertise, your stonework, brickwork or terracotta will be restored with traditional techniques, so that your building looks as good as new.
SUPPLY AND FIX
Where bricks or stone have come loose from the wall, some of it may be salvageable, and some may need to be replaced. We’ll always source stone and brick that closely matches the existing stonework to create a seamless repair. We’ll then restore and replace, including indenting natural stone, until your building stands as firm and impressive as it was always meant to.
Your historic building is held together with bricks and mortar, and that mortar can come loose over time, resulting in unstable stonework or fallen masonry. We can repair the mortar ahead of time, conducting a brief survey to assess the depth of required repairs. With lime mortar, we can plug any gaps and improve the stability of the façade, reducing the risk of extensive stonework repairs in the future.
If your building is finished in something other than plain stone or brick, we’re still able to carry out repairs. Cracked or peeling stucco façades are no problem for us; we’ll complete the repair in keeping with the surviving stucco. We’re also specialists at terracotta repairs, often taking on massive terracotta projects thanks to our reputation.
I’d describe them as experienced, flexible, friendly, obliging, competitive, highly knowledgeable and totally honest.
When I need specialist contractors I can count on, Bullen Conservation is invariably at the top of my list.”
