PRESERVING THE PAST

Historic buildings need careful and regular maintenance to keep them in good shape. Neglecting basic conservation and maintenance can lead to greater problems down the road, requiring more dramatic restorations of masonry façades. To save time and money, call us in to carry out routine conservation and give your historic building a health check.

REPOINTING
When mortar joints fail, stones and bricks become loose and water can find its way in between. With hydraulic lime masonry repointing, we’ll improve your building’s appearance and make it weathertight. We’ll match the new mortar to the original in terms of texture, strength and colour. We can also repoint masonry with grouting and gun pointing, using mechanical and non-mechanical methods.
PRESERVATION
We’ll treat your stonework and brickwork to protect the masonry and extend its life. Weathering and corrosion can get exponentially worse over time, so catching potential problems early saves a lot of heartache later on. We can also use lime plasters and renders to keep your building looking as fine as it does today.

WIDE-RANGING APPLICATIONS
Our conservation work can and should be applied to any historic structure. We’re ecclesiastical specialists, but we’re also the first point of call for many listed buildings, heritage and historical works, as well as frequently being commissioned for commercial façade projects. We don’t just treat buildings, either; we’re experts at restoring sculptures, fountains and memorials.
“They were recommended to me and they lived up to their billing. They have a very well organised office, and their site organisation is equally good. They demonstrated excellent experience of stone cleaning and repointing – particularly important when you are dealing with a building of the stature of St Mary’s.”
