Terracotta stonework
Our brief was to expose and repair the corroded steelwork at agreed locations on the front and sides of the store, then replace the terracotta cladding. It was also necessary to keep mess and disruption to an absolute minimum, as Binns is located in a busy shopping precinct and the store remained open the entire time we were on site.
A key part of our job was not just to replace the terracotta, but to ensure a perfect match by working closely with Shaws of Darwin, who we commissioned to supply replacement tiles created from a mould based on an original piece.
